Bunyola is a small inland municipality in the Serra de Tramuntana, the mountain range that runs along the northwest coast of Mallorca and holds UNESCO World Heritage status as a cultural landscape. The town sits at roughly 240 metres above sea level, surrounded by terraced olive groves, citrus orchards, and pine-covered hillsides. It has the character of a working Mallorcan village, with a modest central square, a parish church, and a pace of life that remains largely unchanged by tourism.

The village has a handful of local bars and a small weekly market. For broader shopping, dining, and services, Palma is approximately 15 kilometres away via the Ma-11 road or the historic Palma-Sóller railway, which stops at Bunyola station. Sóller, with its market, restaurants, and port, is around 20 minutes by car over the mountain pass.

Bunyola station connects to Palma by the Ferrocarril de Sóller heritage railway, with the journey taking roughly 30 minutes. By car, Palma city centre is around 15 minutes via the Ma-11, and Palma de Mallorca Airport is approximately 25 to 30 minutes by road, with direct connections to major European cities and year-round scheduled services to mainland Spain.
