Ronda is one of Andalusia’s most historically significant cities, set on a dramatic plateau divided by the El Tajo gorge in the Serranía de Ronda mountains. The city’s whitewashed old town, its 18th-century Puente Nuevo bridge, and its position as one of Spain’s oldest bullrighting centres give it a cultural weight that few Andalusian towns can match. The surrounding countryside, at roughly 700 metres elevation, produces some of the region’s most respected wines and olive oils.

Daily life in Ronda centres on the Plaza de España and Calle Virgen de la Paz, with restaurants such as Bardal (two Michelin stars) and Tragatá drawing serious food travellers. The weekly market, the Mercado de Abastos on Calle Mina, covers everyday provisions. The Alameda del Tajo park and the old Arab baths are within easy walking distance of the historic centre.

Ronda sits approximately 100 kilometres from Málaga city, reachable by road in around 90 minutes via the A-367 and A-357. Direct train services connect Ronda to Málaga in roughly two hours. Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport is the primary international gateway, with direct flights to most major European cities and connections beyond. Marbella and the Costa del Sol coast are approximately 60 kilometres to the south, around one hour by car.
