Magnificent Villa On The Sea

Port-Grimaud is a private lakeside town built from scratch in the 1960s by architect François Spoerry on the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, conceived as a contemporary interpretation of a Provençal fishing village. Its network of canals, pedestrian lanes, and coloured facades gives it a coherent architectural identity unlike anywhere else on the Côte d’Azur. The absence of cars within the town, combined with direct canal access to the open sea, makes it one of the most distinctive residential addresses in the Var.

Daily life in Port-Grimaud centres on the Place du Marché and the waterfront restaurants along the main quays. Saint-Tropez is a ten-minute boat ride across the gulf. The weekly market in Grimaud village, three kilometres inland, supplies local produce. Sainte-Maxime, with its supermarkets and medical facilities, is a short drive along the coast road.

The nearest train station is at Saint-Raphaël, approximately 35 kilometres west, with direct TGV connections to Marseille in under an hour and Paris in roughly four hours. Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport is around 90 kilometres east, typically a 75 to 90 minute drive depending on traffic. Toulon-Hyères Airport, smaller but useful for regional connections, is approximately 80 kilometres to the west.
