Pollença sits in the northern corner of Mallorca, at the foot of the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage mountain range. The old town is built around a central square, the Plaça Major, and retains its medieval street pattern, sandstone architecture, and the famous Calvari staircase of 365 steps that rises above the rooftops. It is one of the most architecturally intact historic towns on the island, with a long-established community of artists, writers, and international residents.

The Sunday market on Plaça Major is a genuine weekly institution. Restaurants including La Fonda and Clivia are well regarded locally. Port de Pollença, the marina town with its pine-lined promenade and beaches, is a ten-minute drive. Cala Sant Vicenç, a sheltered cove with clear water, is roughly the same distance.

Palma de Mallorca is approximately 55 kilometres south, around 50 minutes by car via the MA-13 motorway. Palma Airport handles direct flights to most major European cities year-round, with journey time from Pollença of roughly 45 to 55 minutes by car. There is no rail connection to the north of the island, so a car is essential for daily life. The port of Alcúdia, with ferry services to the Spanish mainland, is around 15 kilometres away.
