Pollença sits at the northern tip of Mallorca, framed by the Serra de Tramuntana mountains and the calm waters of the Bay of Pollença. It is one of the island’s most culturally intact towns, with a medieval core of ochre stone buildings, a Roman bridge, and a weekly Sunday market that has drawn residents and visitors for generations. The town has long attracted artists and writers, giving it a quiet intellectual character that sets it apart from the resort-heavy south.

Daily life centres on the Plaça Major, where Café Espanyol and La Fonda are established meeting points. The Saturday market at Port de Pollença is a short drive away, as are the beaches of Cala Sant Vicenç and Formentor. Michelin-recognised dining is available at Vaca Negra. The old town is walkable, with independent food shops and a covered market.

Palma de Mallorca is approximately 55 kilometres south, reachable in under an hour by car via the MA-13 motorway. Palma Airport handles direct flights to most major European cities year-round, with journey time from Pollença of around 50 minutes by car. There is no rail connection to the north of the island, so a car is essential. Ferry services from Palma connect to Barcelona, Valencia, and Ibiza.
