Sunset Crest

Set into the softly contoured hills of Glisiadia, Sunset Crest is designed to disappear into the landscape rather than dominate it. Built in a contemporary subterranean style, the residence follows the natural lines of the terrain, with stone walls, planted roofs, and shaded courtyards creating a quiet dialogue between architecture and the Cycladic landscape. From its elevated position, the villa looks west across the Aegean toward Antiparos, with open sea views and long summer sunsets unfolding across the horizon.

Approaching the property, the architecture remains deliberately understated, revealing itself gradually through textured stonework, natural planting, and wide terraces oriented entirely toward the sea. The house is arranged on a single level, allowing every principal room to maintain a direct relationship with the outdoors. Large sliding openings connect the interior living spaces to the terraces, while deep pergolas temper the midday light and create cooler shaded areas throughout the day.

Inside, the atmosphere is restrained and calm. Pale stone, soft timber tones, and natural textures reflect the surrounding landscape, while carefully framed openings draw the eye continuously outward toward the water. The open-plan living and dining area sits at the centre of the house, positioned to capture both the morning light and the evening glow over the bay. The kitchen combines sculptural marble surfaces with minimal detailing, creating a space that feels both functional and quietly elegant.

Five bedrooms are arranged as individual private suites, each designed with simplicity and comfort in mind. Bathrooms continue the same material palette of soft stone and muted finishes, while discreet lighting and concealed climate systems preserve the sense of architectural clarity throughout the home.

The outdoor areas form an extension of the living spaces rather than a separate zone. An infinity pool stretches along the terrace edge, reflecting the changing colours of the sky throughout the day. Built-in seating surrounds the firepit at the centre of the main terrace, positioned to face the sunset directly. Nearby, shaded dining and lounge areas sit beneath timber pergolas where the scent of thyme and sea air moves through the open spaces in the evening breeze.

Although secluded, Sunset Crest remains closely connected to the island’s main points of interest. Parikia, Agia Irini, and the port at Pounta are all within easy reach, allowing quick access to beaches, tavernas, and crossings to Antiparos while preserving a strong sense of privacy and retreat.

Scheduled for completion in September 2025, Sunset Crest presents a contemporary interpretation of Cycladic living, where architecture, landscape, and light are carefully balanced to create a home deeply connected to its surroundings.
