Palma Villa

Palma’s Old Town is the historic and cultural core of the Balearic capital, a dense quarter of Gothic palaces, Renaissance courtyards, and medieval lanes that have accumulated layers of civic life over seven centuries. The Cathedral of Santa Maria, known locally as La Seu, anchors the waterfront edge of the district, while the Almudaina Royal Palace and the Arab Baths speak to the depth of the city’s layered past. Living here means being inside the fabric of one of the Mediterranean’s most architecturally coherent historic centres.

Daily life in the Old Town centres on Plaça Major and the surrounding streets. Marc Fosh restaurant on Carrer de la Missió is a Michelin-starred reference point. The Mercat de l’Olivar, a short walk away, covers fresh produce, fish, and charcuterie. Passeig del Born, the city’s main promenade, is within five minutes on foot.

Palma is well connected for a city of its size. Son Sant Joan International Airport is approximately 11 kilometres from the Old Town, roughly 20 minutes by car or taxi. Regular ferry services from the Port of Palma connect to Barcelona in around eight hours overnight, or four hours by fast ferry. Barcelona and Valencia are also served by direct flights year-round, with numerous European capitals reachable in under three hours.
