Montemale’s Castle

MONTEMALE’s Castle is situated in the homonym
Municipality in the south-western part of the Province of
Cuneo.
The MONTEMALE municipality belongs to the Mountain
Community Valley Grana.
The Castle is set in proximity of the chief town, on the
watershed between the valleys Grana and Maira, 931
meters high, in a dominant position on the Pidmont plain
below.
Dronero and Caraglio, the main valley centres, are
respectively three and four kilometres and a half away from
the chief town, down in the valley.
There, in the bottom valley, through and articulated and
flowing road system it is possible to quickly reach the main
centres of the Province and the main connections to the
local communication network linking in the North, with
Turin and the Padana plain, in the East, with Genoa and the
Ligurian Levant, in the South with the westward Riviera
and the Côte d’Azur in French territory, in the West, with
the French administrative departments of the Var and the
Queyras.
The entrepreneurial liveliness of the provincial economic
field in every productive sector, and the presence of
numerous environmental resources, determine, for the local
context, some interesting potentialities for the development
of an integrated economy in which the tourist component
undertakes a remarkable role.
That is precisely the context where the hypothesis of
recovery and reutilize of MONTEMALE’s Castle takes
place, as illustrated in the following pages.
The Ownership intend to restore the Castle in order to
realize a high-grade tourist and receptive structure,
endowed with the most exclusive services and comforts.
This intervention project represents an important
opportunity for local development, both directly, creating
new places of employment, and indirectly through a careful
exploitation of the socio - economic resources already
existing on the territory.

Il Castello di MONTEMALE è ubicato nell’omonimo Comune
sito nella parte sud-occidentale della Provincia piemontese di Cuneo.
Il Comune di MONTEMALE fa parte della Comunità Montana
Valle Grana.
Il Castello è posto in prossimità del capoluogo comunale sullo
spartiacque tra le valli Grana e Maira a 931 metri sul livello del mare
in posizione dominante sulla pianura piemontese sottostante.
Dal capoluogo comunale attraverso due differenti percorsi,
lunghi rispettivamente tre e quattro chilometri e mezzo si raggiungono
i centri di fondovalle di Dronero e di Caraglio.
Qui grazie ad un sistema viario articolato e scorrevole è
possibile raggiungere velocemente i principali centri della Provincia e
gli snodi della rete primaria di comunicazione locale che mettono in
collegamento a Nord con Torino e la pianura Padana, ad Est con
Genova ed il levante ligure, a Sud con la Riviera di Ponente e la Costa
Azzurra in territorio francese, ad Ovest con i dipartimenti
amministrativi francesi del Var e del Queyras.

Le château de MONTEMALE est situé dans la commune
do même nom, dans la partie sud occidentale de la province
piémontaise de Cuneo.
La commune de MONTEMALE fait partie de la
Communauté Montagnarde de la Vallée Grana.
Le château est placé près du chef-lieu communal sur la
ligne de partage des eaux entre les vallées Grana et Maira à
931 mètres au-dessus du niveau de la mer et domine toute
la plaine du Piemont.
En partant du chef-lieu communal par deux parcours
différents, longs respectivement trois et quatre kilomètres et
demi, on rejoint les centres de Dronero et Caraglio au fond
des vallées.
Ici, grâce à un système de routes, varié et facile à parcourir,
il est possible de rejoindre rapidement les principaux
centres de la Province et les voies de communication
locales qui relient au Nord Turin et la Plaine Padane, à l’Est
avec Gènes et le levant ligurien, au Sud la rivière du Ponant
et la Côte d’Azur en territoire français, à l’Ouest avec les
départements administratifs français du Vars et du Queyras.
