Design and Style: A Home-Suite in the Heart of Brera In the heart of Milan’s Brera District, within the charming courtyard of an early 20th-century building, lies an exclusive pied-à-terre. Conceived as a true home-suite, the property combines a refined alchemy of colors, fine materials, and iconic designer furnishings—perfectly balanced to offer the intimacy, practicality, and comfort of a high-end hotel suite.
A Millimeter-Precise Bespoke Project The result of architect Maria Vittoria Paggini’s vision (a project awarded a Special Mention at the Fondazione Filippo Perego Award for Interior Designers Under 40), the apartment was born from the idea of transforming a compact metropolitan space into a livable art installation. Every single centimeter has been studied and optimized with nautical precision through custom-made solutions:
Storage walls and concealed furniture: functional areas are cleverly disguised behind mirrored screens and fitted walls.
Transformable sleeping area: the custom-crafted foldaway bed is made of fine high-gloss lacquered Iroko wood, with a front upholstered in elegant wallpaper signed by Wendy Morrison. Completing the room is a storage bench upholstered in Dedar fabric (also mirrored in the window drapes).
Fine Materials and Color Palette The true recurring theme of the residence is the color green, expressed in an elegant palette of shades:
Chromatic details: from the aqua green of the Golran silk carpet to the decorative wallpaper, extending to the glass tops of the BBPR for Olivetti side tables (1960s, from Officina Antiquaria).
Characterful contrasts: the high skirting of the wall-mounted units, the cast-iron radiators salvaged in Austria, and the optical geometry of the bathroom floor are finished in matte black tones to create a refined interplay of contrasts.
Bespoke finishes and brass: brass details, along with vintage lamps and sconces (such as the majestic 1930s Bohemian crystal chandelier or the Poliarte sconces sourced in Tuscany), enrich the rooms by reflecting light.
Designer Kitchen and Bathroom The Kitchen: features an elegant worktop in black Dekton and a wooden structure fully clad in mirrors that conceals storage shelves. The kitchen parquet was custom-designed and crafted by Tuscan master artisans. Highlight design details include the Globe brass chandelier by Stilnovo with 12 opaline glass spheres, as well as fine ceramics (such as Gio Ponti for Richard Ginori majolica tiles).
The Bathroom: a dramatic setting separated by a wooden wall clad in green mirror on the upper portion and fluted mirror on the lower section. The vanity unit comprises an Iroko wood base clad in fluted mirror, embellished with a green marble sink and Gio Ponti fittings.
A one-of-a-kind property, ideal for those seeking a refined metropolitan retreat—a livable work of art where the charm of vintage design meets the ingenuity of contemporary architecture.
