Maubec is a small hilltop village in the Luberon, sitting within the Parc Naturel Régional du Luberon in the Vaucluse. The village occupies a ridge above the agricultural plain between Apt and Cavaillon, with views across vineyards, cherry orchards, and the forested slopes of the Grand Luberon. It is one of the quieter, less commercialised villages in this part of Provence, with a genuine year-round community and a character shaped by stone architecture and working farmland.
The village has a small weekly market and basic shops. Coustellet, four kilometres away, has a supermarket and the well-regarded Marché de Coustellet on Sunday mornings. Oppède-le-Vieux, Ménerbes, and Gordes are all within fifteen minutes by car. Lourmarin and Bonnieux offer a wider choice of restaurants.
Cavaillon is approximately fifteen kilometres away and has a train station with connections to Avignon, where TGV services reach Paris Gare de Lyon in around two hours and forty minutes. Marseille-Provence Airport is roughly seventy kilometres from Maubec, a journey of about one hour by car. Avignon TGV station also connects to Lyon, Marseille, and Barcelona with direct high-speed services.
