Estepona occupies the western stretch of the Costa del Sol, positioned between Marbella to the east and Gibraltar to the south, with the Sierra Bermeja mountains forming a dramatic inland backdrop. The town has maintained a more measured pace of development than its neighbours, preserving a historic old quarter of whitewashed streets and flower-lined plazas while simultaneously attracting significant investment in luxury residential and leisure infrastructure. Its microclimate, sheltered by the sierra, delivers some of the highest sunshine hours on the Spanish Mediterranean coast.

Daily life centres on the Casco Antiguo, the covered Mercado de Abastos, and a seafront promenade stretching over three kilometres. Restaurants such as La Escollera and El Gaviero serve fresh catch directly from the local fishing fleet. Puerto Deportivo de Estepona provides marina dining and water sports. Marbella and Puerto Banús are approximately 30 minutes east by car.

Estepona sits on the AP-7 and A-7 coastal motorways, placing Marbella around 30 minutes away and Málaga city approximately 75 minutes by road. Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport, the region’s primary international hub with direct routes to over 60 countries, is roughly 85 kilometres east, around one hour by car. Gibraltar Airport, serving additional UK and European routes, is approximately 45 kilometres west, under 40 minutes by road.
