In reality it is difficult to trace the origin of such important epithets. The history of Lucca is a sanctuary of culture and traditions but it is also studded with legends and ancient stories. For some centuries BC the area near the Villa between the Serchio river and the Castle of Nozzano was famous. when the Romans arrived and built their fabulous private villas (Domus) and their military settlements. The fertile valley, the navigable river and the sumptuous wooded hills made it all possible.
Thus, the ”Valle del Canto” was dotted with luxurious residences, spas, vast agricultural fields and streams and small rivers that romantically bathed this land.
