Le Monêtier-les-Bains is the highest and most authentically preserved of the four villages that make up the Serre Chevalier valley, sitting at approximately 1,500 metres in the Hautes-Alpes. Unlike the more developed lower villages, Le Monêtier retains a genuine Alpine character, with stone and timber architecture, a historic thermal spa tradition dating back centuries, and direct access to the upper ski domain. It is consistently regarded as the most discerning address within the Serre Chevalier resort.

The ski lifts connecting to the 250-kilometre Serre Chevalier domain are accessible on foot.

Briançon, the nearest town and the highest city in France, is approximately 12 kilometres away and reachable in under 20 minutes by car. The TGV station at Oulx, just across the Italian border, connects to Turin in around 40 minutes and to Paris via Lyon in approximately five hours. Turin Airport is roughly 100 kilometres away, with a drive time of around 90 minutes. Grenoble Airport is approximately 150 kilometres to the northwest.
