La Turbie sits at roughly 480 metres above sea level on the Grande Corniche, the ancient Roman road that traces the ridge above Monaco and the Côte d’Azur. The village is defined by the Trophy of Augustus, a monumental Roman structure erected in 6 BC to mark Rome’s conquest of the Alpine tribes, and one of the most significant Roman monuments in France. The setting combines medieval village architecture, panoramic views over Monaco and the Mediterranean, and a distinctly unhurried pace that contrasts sharply with the coast below.
Daily life centres on the village square and its handful of cafés and restaurants, including the well-regarded Hostellerie Jérôme. The market town of Beausoleil is a short drive down the hillside. Monaco is approximately 15 minutes by car, giving direct access to the Carré d’Or, the Casino de Monte-Carlo, and the principality’s full range of services and dining.
The A8 motorway is accessible within roughly 10 minutes, connecting to Nice and the wider French Riviera. Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport is approximately 30 to 35 minutes by car, with direct flights to most major European cities and intercontinental connections. Monaco’s heliport offers transfers to Nice Airport in around seven minutes. The nearest train station with TGV connections is Nice-Ville, approximately 25 kilometres away.
