Inca is Mallorca’s third-largest city and the commercial and cultural capital of the island’s interior, sitting at the heart of the Raiguer region where the Serra de Tramuntana foothills meet the central plain. Known historically as the island’s leather-working centre, it retains a distinctly local, working character that sets it apart from the coastal resort towns. Its weekly Thursday market, one of the largest on the island, has drawn buyers from across Mallorca for generations.

Daily life centres on the Plaça d’Espanya and the surrounding streets, where traditional celler restaurants such as Celler Can Amer serve Mallorcan cuisine in historic wine-cellar dining rooms. The Leather Museum documents the city’s industrial heritage. Palma is 28 kilometres to the southwest, reachable by road or rail in under 30 minutes.

Inca sits directly on the Palma to Sa Pobla railway line, with regular services connecting to Palma’s Intermodal station in approximately 35 minutes. Palma de Mallorca Airport is roughly 30 kilometres away, around 25 to 30 minutes by car, and operates year-round international routes to major European cities. The road network via the Ma-13 provides straightforward access to the north of the island, including Alcudia and the Port de Pollença, in under 30 minutes.
