For sale is a private island, called Jurucutuoca, in the municipality of Humberto de Campos, in the state of Maranhão, located a few kilometers from the entrance gate to the famous Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, the fourth most popular tourist destination in the country. The property consists of 3,500 hectares (35 km²), close to a fishing village called Carrapatal, right on the west coast of the state. Jurucutuoca is well suited to the creation of a successful ecotourism resort. The island offers approximately 1,000 hectares of dry, usable land and, in addition, the site features a variety of ecosystems, including mangroves, a lagoon, unspoiled beaches, apicuns and preservation areas. It is also easily accessible, whether by land or sea. Its proximity to urban centers and airports makes it easy to transport tourists, as well as being a convenient option for tourist developments. With the growing demand for sustainable ecotourism destinations, Jurucutuoca Island has enormous potential for growth.

There is a lagoon on the island. And it’s almost 800 meters long. It’s a place with lots of fish, and the species found there are haddock, snook, tarpon, mullet and pacu. There are also freshwater shrimp. In addition, alligators use the lagoon, but not during the day (because of the sunbathing), but at night they usually stay there to hunt.

The lagoon is also a nursery for freshwater turtles.
There is also an airstrip for small planes. The runway has been closed for a long time, but in the past it used to be covered with gravel to make it easier to land. That was in the 1960s. Currently, there is only an open clearing on the site.
