Undoubtedly the quietest and most secluded part of the island, the north west boasts some of the most jaw-dropping scenery in Ibiza, and is very popular for yoga retreats and wellness therapists due to the abundance of natural elements and the strong island energy felt in that region.
From the north of the island there is an array of stunning beaches skirting their way around the coast, from Benirras in the North (famous for its historic hippie drumming traditions and iconic ‘God’s Finger’ rock jutting out of the sea in front of the beach), to Port to San Miguel and Cala Salada over in the west.
The endless sunsets from this side of the island can be indescribable in their beauty and each day brings a unique set of colours, and experiences for those lucky enough to witness them. Dropping inland you will find picture perfect villages nestled in the countryside, with no more than a church and a couple of restaurants to their name, such as Santa Ines and San Mateo, surrounded by orchards of almond trees and green fields, almost as if they were frozen in time.
5 mins drive to Santa Gertrudis, 20 mins to Ibiza Town, 30 mins to the airport
San Miguel sits in the municipality of Sant Joan de Labritja, in the quieter northern interior of Ibiza, an area that has retained a distinctly unhurried character compared to the busier southern and eastern parts of the island. The surrounding landscape is defined by pine-covered hills, terraced farmland, and almond orchards, with the village itself anchored by the fortified church of Sant Miquel de Balansat, one of the oldest on the island. This is Ibiza at its most unguarded and least commercialised.
Port de Sant Miquel, with its sheltered bay and beach restaurants, is roughly two kilometres away. Benirràs beach, known for its Sunday drum circles and distinctive rock formation, is a short drive north. Santa Gertrudis, with its well-regarded restaurants including Bar Costa and Beso Beach, is approximately five minutes by car and serves as the main hub for day-to-day provisions.
Ibiza Town is around twenty minutes by car, providing access to the full range of the island’s dining, marina, and cultural facilities. Ibiza Airport is approximately thirty minutes south, with direct flights operating year-round to major European cities and seasonal connections to destinations across the continent. The ferry terminal in Ibiza Town links the island to Barcelona, Valencia, and Palma de Mallorca, with crossings ranging from roughly two to eight hours depending on the service.
