The acclaimed architect for 4505 Kahala Avenue was Fred N. Sutter.

Mr. Sutter is best known as the notable principal architect of The Kahala Hotel, along with the firm Killingsworth, Brady, and Sutter. His firm designed the luxury hotel, which opened in 1964 and is known for its modernist architecture and emphasis on indoor-outdoor living, a style exemplified by the hotel’s design.  The hotel’s modernism, including its emphasis on structural purity and outdoor living spaces, helped to spread the style globally throughout the world.
