Grimaud occupies a privileged position in the Var, set back from the Gulf of Saint-Tropez between the Maures massif and the coast. The medieval hilltop village, with its Romanesque church and ruined castle, gives the commune a depth of character that the more celebrated Saint-Tropez lacks. The wider commune extends down to Port Grimaud, the planned waterfront village designed by François Spoerry in the 1960s, which has become a landmark of the French Riviera in its own right.
Daily life centres on the Tuesday and Saturday markets in Grimaud village and the waterside restaurants of Port Grimaud. Saint-Tropez is roughly 15 minutes by car, giving access to Place des Lices, the covered market, and the dining and retail offer of the peninsula. The Beauvallon Golf Club is immediately adjacent to this part of the commune.
The nearest major transport hub is Toulon-Hyères Airport, approximately 60 kilometres west, with regular domestic and seasonal European connections. Nice Côte d’Azur Airport is around 100 kilometres to the east, roughly 90 minutes by car, and serves as the primary international gateway for the region with direct routes to most European capitals and long-haul destinations. The TGV station at Les Arcs-Draguignan connects to Paris in approximately three hours.
