Gassin is one of the most distinguished hill villages in the Var, classified among the Plus Beaux Villages de France and positioned on a ridge above the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. The village retains its medieval street plan, its stone architecture, and a scale that has resisted the commercial pressures that have reshaped the coastline below. From its elevated position, the views extend across the peninsula and out to sea, and the character of the place remains genuinely Provençal rather than resort-facing.

Saint-Tropez is approximately 10 minutes by car, giving direct access to Place des Lices market, the port restaurants, and the beaches of Pampelonne. Ramatuelle is equally close. The Golf de Gassin, one of the better-regarded courses on the Côte d’Azur, is within the commune itself. Grocery shopping is handled in Cogolin or Sainte-Maxime, both under 20 minutes.

The nearest major transport hub is Toulon-Hyères Airport, roughly 60 kilometres west, with regular domestic and European services. Nice Côte d’Azur Airport is approximately 100 kilometres east and offers the broadest range of international connections, typically reached in around 90 minutes by car. The TGV station at Les Arcs-Draguignan, about 40 kilometres north, connects to Paris in under four hours and serves as the main rail access point for the peninsula.
