Fuengirola is a well-established coastal city on the Costa del Sol, positioned between Marbella and Málaga along a broad, south-facing seafront. It has a more grounded, year-round character than its glossier neighbours, with a resident population that includes a substantial international community drawn by the climate, the seven kilometres of sandy beach, and a pace of life that functions well outside the summer season.

The Paseo Marítimo runs the length of the seafront and connects to the old town around Plaza de la Constitución. The weekly market at Recinto Ferial is one of the largest on the coast. Restaurants along Calle de la Cruz and around the port cover everything from fresh fish to international dining. The Bioparc Fuengirola and the restored Castillo Sohail are the main cultural landmarks.

Fuengirola has its own Cercanías rail station with direct trains to Málaga city centre in approximately 45 minutes and to Málaga Airport in around 35 minutes. The A-7 coastal motorway and the AP-7 toll road provide fast road access to Marbella in under 30 minutes and to Málaga in roughly 40 minutes. Málaga Airport handles over 20 million passengers annually with direct routes across Europe and beyond.
