In the 19th century, banker Michele Giuntini commissioned Florentine master craftsmen to create a cycle of frescoes that are still preserved in their original dimensions today. These frescoes—Baroque and 19th-century, floral and mythological, decorative and narrative—are some of the rare examples of domestic iconographic heritage that remained intact throughout the 20th century.
From 1857 to 1979, the palace belonged to the Vivarelli Colonna family, from whom it takes its contemporary name, consolidating its status as a living monument to the Florentine aristocracy.
