Fayence is one of the most sought-after perched villages in the Var department of Provence, sitting at around 350 metres elevation in the Pays de Fayence, a cluster of hilltop villages between the Esterel massif and the pre-Alps. The old village retains its medieval street pattern, its Romanesque church, and its working artisan community, while the surrounding countryside is defined by oak woodland, olive groves, and long views south toward the coast. It occupies a distinct position: genuinely Provençal in character, yet within practical reach of the Côte d’Azur.
Daily life centres on the weekly market in the village square, the restaurants along Rue du Château, and the local producers selling olive oil and honey from the surrounding farms. Callian, Montauroux, and Seillans are all within ten minutes by car. Golf de Roquebrune and the gliding club at Fayence aerodrome serve as key leisure anchors for residents.
Cannes is approximately 40 kilometres to the south, reachable in around 45 minutes by car via the D562 and A8 autoroute. Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport is roughly 70 kilometres away, typically one hour by car, and handles direct routes to most major European cities and long-haul destinations. The nearest TGV connection is at Les Arcs-Draguignan, around 35 kilometres west, linking to Paris in approximately three hours.
