Estepona occupies a stretch of the Costa del Sol between Marbella and Gibraltar, and has developed a distinct identity from its more commercialised neighbours. The old town retains its Andalusian character through whitewashed streets, flower-lined lanes, and a working fishing harbour. Over the past decade, significant municipal investment in public space and infrastructure has reinforced Estepona’s reputation as one of the most liveable and well-maintained towns on the western Costa del Sol.

The old town offers daily markets, the Mercado de Abastos, and a strong restaurant scene along Calle Terraza and the port area. Beaches including Playa del Cristo and Playa de la Rada are central and well-serviced. Marbella and Puerto Banus are approximately 30 minutes east by car.

Malaga Airport is the primary international gateway, located approximately 80 kilometres east of Estepona, with a drive of around 60 to 70 minutes via the AP-7 toll motorway. The airport serves direct routes to most major European cities and several long-haul destinations. Gibraltar Airport, roughly 45 kilometres to the southwest, provides an additional option for regional and UK connections. The AP-7 and A-7 coastal roads link Estepona directly to Marbella, Malaga, and Algeciras.
