Cavalaire-sur-Mer occupies a sheltered bay on the southern edge of the Massif des Maures, between Saint-Tropez and Le Lavandou on the Var coastline. The town is defined by its broad sandy beach stretching nearly four kilometres along the bay, its relatively low-density residential character, and a scale that remains genuinely liveable year-round. Unlike the more congested resorts to the east, Cavalaire has retained a quieter identity while remaining firmly within the orbit of the Saint-Tropez peninsula.
The town centre, port, and main market are all within easy reach of most residential addresses. The weekly market runs on the port esplanade. Restaurants along the waterfront include Le Cabanon and La Voile Rouge. Ramatuelle and Gassin are a short drive inland, and the beaches of Pampelonne are reachable in under twenty minutes by car.
Cavalaire-sur-Mer sits approximately 35 kilometres southwest of Saint-Tropez and around 80 kilometres from Toulon-Hyères Airport, the nearest international gateway, with a drive of roughly one hour. Nice Côte d’Azur Airport, offering the broadest range of international connections, is approximately 120 kilometres to the east, around 90 minutes by car. The nearest SNCF rail station is at Les Arcs-Draguignan, roughly 40 kilometres north, connecting to Marseille and the TGV network.
