Cavalaire-sur-Mer occupies a sheltered bay at the western edge of the Saint-Tropez peninsula, between the Maures massif and the Mediterranean. It is a small, self-contained coastal town with a distinctly residential character, less commercially pressured than Saint-Tropez or Sainte-Maxime, yet sharing the same quality of light, pine-covered hillsides, and clear water. The town’s bay, the Baie de Cavalaire, is one of the most protected anchorages on this stretch of coast, which gives it a calm that the more exposed resorts lack.
The town centre, market, and sandy beach are all within easy reach on foot. The covered market runs regularly through the season. Restaurants along the port include Le Cabanon and several fish-focused addresses on the waterfront. The marina accommodates private yachts and offers ferry connections to the Îles d’Hyères. Larger retail and services are a short drive toward Sainte-Maxime.
Saint-Tropez is approximately 25 kilometres by road, around 30 to 40 minutes depending on season. Toulon-Hyères Airport is roughly 60 kilometres west, offering domestic and European connections, with a drive of around one hour. Nice Côte d’Azur Airport, the primary international hub for this coast, is approximately 120 kilometres east, reachable in around 90 minutes outside peak summer traffic. The A8 motorway is accessible via Le Luc, around 35 kilometres north.
