Dream historic castle with a private chapel, numerous towers, and period decorations bearing the signature of Brunelleschi, dominating one of the Tuscan hills, surrounded by more than 1200 hectares of land and serving as the headquarters for an agricultural enterprise producing wines and oil of excellence; additionally, the property includes a series of farmhouses used for production or as lodging for guests and residences.
Location
Located between Florence and Siena, it boasts a splendid panoramic position overlooking the Tuscan hills, near some of the most beautiful and beloved places in Tuscany, such as Pisa, Volterra, and San Gimignano. Situated in a secluded yet easily accessible position, 30 km from Florence, 50 km from Siena, and well connected to the most beautiful and picturesque areas of Tuscany. The nearest airport is Florence, reachable in half an hour.
Historical Notes
One of the most beautiful historic residences in Tuscany, built in 1424 by the noble Florentine family of Pucci. The house once hosted Lorenzo the Magnificent, Pope Clemente, King Victor Emmanuel III of Italy, and still preserves with great care the details of the past.
Description
The castle, developed around an internal courtyard, covers approximately 2,930 sqm and has three levels in excellent condition. On the ground floor, there are several representative rooms with terraces and all necessary services, currently used as reception rooms of great charm and administrative offices. The first floor is mainly used for bedrooms, featuring large old-style double rooms with their own bathrooms. Below ground, there is a spectacular natural limestone cellar for wine aging, maintaining natural temperatures. This area also includes a beautiful chapel, still consecrated and used for weddings. The castle’s charming turrets and perimeter passages, once adorned with torches and guarded, offering a truly unique and unforgettable view of the Tuscan hills and the castle’s internal courtyard.
Not far from the castle, there is a 1700s villa of approximately 1150 sqm spread over three floors plus a central tower. The semi-basement houses service rooms. The first floor and mezzanine contain a series of rooms with a classical distribution typical of villas of that era. The villa is part of a farm that includes six other buildings, totaling about 3,500 sqm.
Completing the property, there is an agritourism complex with ten apartments currently active, a farm producing quality wines and oils with its own brand, and numerous buildings, mainly farmhouses, about 53 in total, scattered across the estate for a total of 30,000 sqm.
State and Finishes
The castle has been carefully and finely renovated, maintaining all typical elements of Tuscan country buildings, such as terracotta floors, wooden beams, stone fireplaces, and solid medieval walls still in perfect condition. It is currently used as a reception venue for high-level events.
The villa and agriturismo, along with the farm, are in good condition. Other buildings require complete restoration with the following refurbishment works.
Outdoor Spaces
The castle, forming the main body of the property, is surrounded by a centuries-old park with an Italian-style garden that preserves its classic style, including a tennis court, a swimming pool, and an operational farm center. The total land area is 1,200 hectares, including 7 hectares of IGT vineyards, 14 hectares of olive groves (3,500 trees), 19 hectares of Chianti DOCG vineyards, and the remaining hectares divided between arable land and woods.
Potential Uses
A property offering a wide range of options for the buyer — a private historic residence within the castle with additional use of farmhouses for rent or resale, development of a hospitality business across the estate with the creation of golf courses and other tourist activities, or a top-level event venue.
