Cannes Croisette

Cannes occupies a singular position on the French Riviera, a city whose international reputation rests on more than its film festival. The Boulevard de la Croisette, the city’s defining axis, runs along a broad sandy bay framed by the Esterel hills to the west and the Lérins Islands offshore. The city combines a working port, a serious retail and dining culture, and a concentration of grand Belle Époque and Art Deco architecture that gives it a weight and permanence absent from smaller Riviera resorts.

Daily life on and around the Croisette centres on the Marché Forville for produce, La Palme d’Or at the Martinez for dining, and the boutiques of Rue d’Antibes for shopping. The Vieux Port and Le Suquet quarter are a short walk inland. The Lérins Islands are accessible by ferry from the Vieux Port in under 20 minutes.

Cannes-Mandelieu Airport handles private and charter traffic and sits approximately 6 kilometres west of the city centre. Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport, the primary hub for scheduled international flights, is roughly 30 kilometres east, around 30 to 40 minutes by car or taxi. Cannes station connects directly to Nice in approximately 40 minutes and to Marseille-Saint-Charles in around 1 hour 40 minutes by TGV, with onward connections to Paris in under 5 hours.
