Le Cannet sits immediately above Cannes on the hills of the Alpes-Maritimes, a residential commune that has maintained a distinct identity from its more famous neighbour. The old village core, with its narrow lanes and Provençal architecture, contrasts with the broader residential hillsides that offer elevated positions above the bay. The painter Pierre Bonnard lived and worked here for the last two decades of his life, and the Musée Bonnard remains the cultural anchor of the town.
Daily life centres on the pedestrianised old town and the Boulevard Sadi Carnot for markets and cafés. The Marché de Le Cannet runs regularly for fresh produce. Cannes itself, including the Rue d’Antibes for shopping and the Croisette, is reachable in under ten minutes by car.
Cannes-La Bocca and Cannes train stations provide direct TGV connections to Paris in roughly five and a half hours, and regular services along the coast to Nice, Monaco, and Menton. Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport is approximately 30 kilometres east, accessible in around 30 to 40 minutes by car, with extensive European and intercontinental routes. The A8 motorway connects the area to Marseille in under two hours.
