Characteristic Castle With Large Land And Outbuildings In Campello Sul Clitunno

In the Municipality of Campello sul Clitunno, precisely in the Borgo Villa Ravale, at the base of a green hill above Mount Serano, in a context of considerable historical, landscaped, and environmental value, stands Villa Ravale, a beautiful castle as well as the main building of the Borgo, with multiple buildings and rural outbuildings that form the courtyard.
THE CASTLE:
The time of construction can be traced back to the 18th and 19th centuries, still presenting well-preserved typical characteristics of country manor buildings. The main building includes an area of about 1000 square meters and rises over three levels above ground; the supporting structure is made of stone with a tiled roof and is developed around a large central courtyard. A raised gallery once in barrel connects the building to a second level building of modest size. A large staircase, situated between the two buildings, leads to an upper external courtyard, where there is a brick-built well, used in the past for water supply to a tank below. Surrounded by a series of rural buildings and agricultural outbuildings, some in a state of ruin, the splendid Villa Ravale extends over an area of 4,804.96 square meters with a large land of about 15,000 square meters, on which all the buildings exist, offering a splendid view of the valley and large green spaces. The rural complex is completely enclosed by a brick fence with concave arches and pyramidal finishing elements topped with stone balls. The main building has recently been renovated and secured.
DISTANCES:
Near the castle, there are also known and characteristic buildings of considerable historical/artistic importance such as: Villa Campello, the Castle of Campello Alto, and the Temple of the Clitunno, the latter being part of the UNESCO heritage and included in the serial site ”Italy Longobardorum - Centers of power and worship”. A few hundred meters away, along the path of Via Flaminia, you will find the Fonte del Clitunno, a site of tourist and environmental interest.
