Bunyola is a small historic village in the Serra de Tramuntana, the mountain range that runs along the northwest coast of Mallorca and holds UNESCO World Heritage status. Sitting at around 200 metres above sea level, the village retains a genuinely local character, with stone architecture, narrow lanes, and views that extend south toward Palma and the Bay of Palma. It is one of the few inland Mallorcan villages that has remained largely untouched by mass tourism.

Daily life centres on the village square, the Plaça des Jardins, with its cafés and small shops. The weekly market covers basic provisions. Palma, with its full range of restaurants, the Mercat de l’Olivar, and cultural institutions including the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró, is approximately 18 kilometres away by road.

Bunyola sits directly on the Palma to Sóller railway line, one of the most scenic narrow-gauge routes in Spain, with regular services connecting the village to Palma in around 30 minutes and to Sóller in under 20 minutes. By car, Palma city centre is roughly 20 to 25 minutes via the Ma-11. Palma de Mallorca Airport is approximately 30 minutes by car and operates year-round international routes across Europe.
