A Provence country house sheltered from view, with a swimming pool, in grounds of around 1.5 hectares, near Brignoles and other Haut-Var villages. This property looms gradually into view at the end of a discrete lane. Visitors’ gazes initially fall upon the dry-stone walled terraces that provide the grounds with structure, but also by the presence of water. It flows from a plentiful spring, trickling over stones, running along the walls, following the paths and bringing the garden to life with a constant murmur. The two-storey country house, built between 1978 and 1982, is made up of interlocking sections, some of which are set back slightly. The yellow ochre rendered facades are dotted with ivy and punctuated windows fittted with light-coloured swing shutters. The gabled roof is made of barrel tiles. There is further living space in an annex set back from the main section, in which a veranda combines a summer kitchen and lounge, in the shade of the pines. Pine trees as well as Mediterranean species have been planted in the grounds, which alternate between open areas and shaded spaces. They also play host to a swimming pool.
