Boulbon is a small Provençal village in the Bouches-du-Rhône, set between the Rhône river and the Alpilles massif, roughly midway between Avignon and Tarascon. The village is defined by its medieval castle ruins rising above limestone outcrops, its Romanesque church, and the agricultural landscape of orchards and garrigue that surrounds it. The scale is intimate, the architecture is vernacular stone, and the pace reflects a genuinely rural Provence that has remained largely unchanged.
Daily provisions are handled in Tarascon, seven kilometres south, which has a weekly market, supermarkets, and standard services. Avignon, fifteen kilometres north, offers a full range of restaurants, cultural institutions including the Palais des Papes, and the commercial infrastructure of a regional capital. Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, known for its restaurants and specialist food shops, is approximately twenty minutes by car.
Avignon TGV station is approximately fifteen minutes by car, placing Paris Gare de Lyon within roughly two hours and forty minutes by high-speed rail. Marseille-Provence Airport is around sixty kilometres south, reachable in under an hour by car, with direct connections to major European hubs. Nîmes-Alès-Camargue-Cévennes Airport, a smaller alternative with select European routes, is approximately forty kilometres west.
