Binissalem sits at the geographic heart of Mallorca, in the broad plain known as Es Raiguer, with the Serra de Tramuntana rising to the northwest. It is one of the island’s most historically rooted towns, long associated with wine production under its own Denominació d’Origen, and its centre retains the stone architecture and unhurried pace of traditional Mallorcan life. The town is recognized as a place of genuine local character rather than a tourist destination.

The weekly market runs on Fridays in the town square. Celler Biniagual and José L. Ferrer are among the established wineries within or immediately adjacent to the municipality. The town has a good range of everyday services including supermarkets, pharmacies, and local restaurants. Palma’s retail and dining offer is 25 minutes by car.

Binissalem has its own train station on the Palma to Sa Pobla line, with regular services reaching Palma in approximately 35 minutes. By car, the Ma-13 motorway provides direct access to Palma in around 20 minutes and to the northern coast, including Alcúdia and Pollença, in a similar time. Palma de Mallorca Airport is roughly 30 minutes by car and operates year-round international routes across Europe.
