Benalmadena occupies a privileged stretch of the Costa del Sol between Torremolinos and Fuengirola, with a municipal area that rises from the Mediterranean shoreline through the old hilltop village of Benalmadena Pueblo to the Sierra de Mijas beyond. The coastal strip, Benalmadena Costa, is one of the most established resort destinations on the southern Andalusian coast, with a marina, a consistent microclimate, and a well-developed infrastructure that attracts both international investors and long-term residents.

Daily life in Benalmadena Costa centres on the Puerto Marina, one of the largest marinas in Andalusia, with waterfront dining at restaurants including El Bodegon and La Langosta. The Torrequebrada Golf Course sits within the municipality, and the Selwo Marina and Tivoli World amusement park serve as established leisure anchors. Fuengirola market and Malaga city centre are both within a 20-minute drive.

Malaga Airport (AGP) is approximately 20 kilometres from Benalmadena, reachable in around 20 minutes by car or via the C-1 Cercanias commuter rail line, which connects Benalmadena station directly to the airport and Malaga city centre in under 30 minutes. Marbella is roughly 35 kilometres to the west along the A-7 coastal road. High-speed AVE rail services from Malaga connect to Madrid in under two and a half hours.
