El Higuerón is a private residential enclave set on the hillside between Benalmádena and Fuengirola, elevated above the Costa del Sol coastline with direct views across the Bay of Fuengirola and the Mediterranean. The area is defined by low-density development, mature Mediterranean pine and eucalyptus woodland, and a consistently high standard of residential architecture. It occupies a distinct position on the western slopes of the Sierra de Mijas, giving it a cooler microclimate and a sense of separation from the busier coastal strip below.
The Higuerón Hotel and its Beach Club, spa, and tennis facilities are within the enclave itself. Fuengirola town centre, with its covered market, seafront promenade, and restaurants including El Higuerón restaurant, is a five-minute drive. Benalmádena Puerto Marina, one of the largest marinas on the Costa del Sol, is roughly ten minutes by car.
Málaga Airport is approximately 20 kilometres from El Higuerón, reachable in around 20 minutes by car via the A-7 coastal motorway. Málaga city centre, with its high-speed rail connections to Madrid (under two and a half hours) and direct services to Seville and Granada, is 25 kilometres away. The AP-7 toll motorway provides fast access along the coast in both directions.
