Inca sits at the geographic heart of Mallorca, roughly equidistant between Palma and the northern coast, and functions as the island’s principal inland market town. It carries a distinct identity rooted in leather craftsmanship and agricultural tradition, with a compact historic centre of stone buildings, parish churches, and weekly markets that have defined the town for centuries. The surrounding countryside is characterised by almond groves, carob trees, and low hills that define the Raiguer region.
The Thursday market, Mercat de Dijous, is one of the largest open-air markets in the Balearics and draws buyers from across the island. The town centre offers a solid range of restaurants, including traditional celler dining rooms such as Celler Can Ripoll, along with bakeries, local shops, and supermarkets. Palma is approximately 30 kilometres away by road.
Inca is served by the Palma to Sa Pobla railway line, with regular services connecting the town to Palma’s Intermodal station in around 35 minutes. By car, the Ma-13 motorway provides direct access to Palma in approximately 25 minutes. Palma de Mallorca Airport is roughly 35 kilometres from Inca and handles extensive year-round international routes, with journey times from the airport to Inca of around 30 minutes by car.
