Alcudia occupies the northeastern corner of Mallorca, where a narrow isthmus separates the Bay of Pollensa from the Bay of Alcudia. The medieval walled old town, with its intact 14th-century fortifications and cobbled streets, gives the area a historical weight that most of northern Mallorca lacks. The surrounding landscape, framed by the Serra de Tramuntana to the west and the Cap de Formentor peninsula to the north, places Alcudia among the most scenically distinctive addresses on the island.

Daily life in Alcudia centres on the old town market (Tuesdays and Sundays), the waterfront promenade of Port d’Alcudia, and the long sandy arc of Platja d’Alcudia. Palma de Mallorca is approximately 55 kilometres from Alcudia, reachable by car in around 50 minutes via the Ma-13 motorway. Palma Airport (PMI) handles direct routes to most major European cities and is roughly one hour by road. A regular bus service connects Alcudia to Palma and to neighbouring towns including Pollensa and Can Picafort. The port at Alcudia also operates ferry connections to Ciutadella in Menorca.
