Although the villa was officially named “István Villa,” the name never took hold locally, and the estate continued to be known as Pántlika, derived from the vineyard’s appearance: rows of vines stretching across the hillside like decorative ribbons. Beneath the castle, a large vaulted cellar and bottling facility operated, playing a key role in establishing the reputation of the Akali and Dörgicse wine region. Historical accounts also note that wines produced here were at times supplied to the Vatican.

Following nationalization in the mid-20th century, the property became part of the Badacsonyi State Farm. The land in front of the castle was subdivided into smaller plots, where holiday homes and traditional wine cellars were later established, many of which still preserve the authentic character of the region. In 2006, the castle returned to private ownership and underwent a complete restoration, bringing the building and its surroundings back to their former elegance.
