Artà is one of the most characterful inland towns in Mallorca, set in the northeast of the island against the foothills of the Llevant mountain range. The historic centre, crowned by the fortified Sanctuary of Sant Salvador and the parish church of Transfiguració del Senyor, has retained an authenticity that the more tourist-facing parts of the island have largely lost. The surrounding municipality takes in a stretch of protected coastline and the Llevant Natural Park, making it one of the most scenically intact corners of the Balearics.

Daily life in Artà centres on the Tuesday market, the cafés and restaurants along Carrer de Ciutat, and the Teatre d’Artà, a well-regarded cultural venue. The coastal village of Colònia de Sant Pere is a ten-minute drive, with direct access to the Badia d’Alcúdia and the beaches of Es Caló and Sa Canova. Cala Torta and Cala Mesquida are within fifteen minutes.

Palma de Mallorca Airport is approximately 80 kilometres from Artà, a journey of around one hour by car via the Ma-15 motorway. The airport operates year-round international routes to major European cities, with significantly expanded connections from spring through autumn. Palma itself, with its full range of services, private schools, and international infrastructure, is reachable in under an hour. There is no direct rail connection to Artà, making a car essential for residents.
