In the historic Borgo de’ Cavalieri, a late 18th-century complex once owned by the Knights of Santo Stefano in the hills of the Val di Chiana overlooking Cortona, the Il Fattore farmhouse is the largest of the six restored buildings: 252 square metres spread over two storeys, a private garden of 3,300 square metres fully enclosed on all four sides, a 10×5-metre swimming pool and a covered carport with three exclusive parking spaces.
Like the other farmhouses in the village, the building has been completely demolished and rebuilt using state-of-the-art construction techniques, high-performance thermal insulation, earthquake-resistant structures, and provision for air conditioning and solar panels, whilst preserving the traditional Tuscan architectural style. Work is 80 per cent complete: the structure is finished, whilst the interiors await the buyer’s choices. This level of freedom is rarely available in a setting that is already so well-defined and meticulously maintained.
