Antibes occupies a singular position on the Côte d’Azur, sitting between Cannes and Nice with a character that neither city can replicate. The old town, enclosed by Vauban-designed ramparts that drop directly into the Mediterranean, has a density of history and architectural texture that feels genuinely lived-in rather than preserved for tourism. The weekly and daily markets, the narrow streets of the Vieil Antibes, and the working port give the city a credibility that its more glamorous neighbours sometimes lack.

The Marché Provençal on Cours Masséna runs six mornings a week and anchors daily life in the old town. Restaurant Le Brulot on Rue Frédéric Isnard is a long-standing local institution. The A8 motorway connects Antibes directly to Monaco, Marseille, and the Italian border.
