Algaida Farmhouse

This huge country house with a plot of 550.000sqm and buildings totalling 2.000sqm in Algaida dates back to the 15th century. Its owners were the Llull family, descendants of the famous Mallorcan blessed Ramon Llull of the 13th century.

The property is noted for its own natural water spring gushing from the ground, already exploited in the Muslim period, which carries the water through a channel to the large reservoir - safareig, where the animals drink. In general, it provides total food independence thanks to the agricultural and livestock use, its own water and many natural resources on the estate itself. The extensive land comprises wooded areas of pine, holm oak, carob and other tree species, as well as rich pastures.

The large main house forms a unit with the settlers’ house, but with separate entrances. It has several outbuildings of all kinds for keeping a farm with animals (now there are sheep), etc. The number of rooms and bathrooms can be between 20 and 15 respectively, depending on the internal renovation.

In the past, there were vineyards and, from that time, there are still large wooden wine barrels in the storehouse.

The farmhouse is located only 20 minutes from Palma airport, but far from air routes and motorways, therefore it is a very quiet area.
