Alaró is a small historic town in the foothills of the Serra de Tramuntana in central Mallorca, sitting at the base of a dramatic limestone ridge crowned by the ruins of Castell d’Alaró, a medieval fortress with origins in the Moorish period. The town retains a working, unhurried character that distinguishes it from the more tourist-oriented villages of the island, with a compact historic centre of stone townhouses, a central plaça, and a parish church that anchors daily life.
