Castea

Castea is a distinctive stone-built castello set at the water’s edge in the village of Agios Nikolaos, on the Methana peninsula.

With its crenellated parapets, round bastion, porthole windows and arched doors, the property has the character of a small seaside castle, shaped by its extraordinary relationship with the water. Whitewashed terraces descend towards a private gate opening directly onto the pebble shore and the clear waters of the Saronic Gulf. Olive groves and pine-covered slopes rise behind the property, while uninterrupted views extend across the gulf and its islands, with sailing boats regularly passing offshore.

Inside, whitewashed walls are combined with exposed natural rock and stonework, creating interiors with a strong sense of place. The living room centres around a traditional corner fireplace, with French doors opening directly onto the main sea-view terrace, while the bright, fully equipped kitchen also enjoys views towards the water.

Castea has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The main suite is particularly atmospheric, with a white-painted beamed ceiling, its own fireplace and an en-suite shower room. Twin arched French doors open onto a private terrace overlooking the sea, while a mezzanine loft, illuminated by distinctive porthole windows, provides an additional space for reading, relaxing or occasional sleeping.

Outdoor living is an integral part of the property, centred around its terraces and waterfront setting.

A series of whitewashed terraces, framed by stone parapets and with areas of shade, provide different settings for dining, relaxing and enjoying the changing light across the gulf. Steps lead down through the property towards the shoreline, where a shaded seating area sits just a few steps from the sea.
