Marcus Aurelius — Study in Stoic Character is a one-off charcoal work reflecting on the philosophy and character of Marcus Aurelius — the Roman emperor remembered not only for power, but for restraint, discipline, and inner sovereignty.
The drawing explores the tension between authority and humility. Aurelius ruled an empire while writing privately about duty, impermanence, and the necessity of mastering one’s own mind. This work attempts to capture that quiet paradox: a man who held immense power, yet continually reminded himself that power meant nothing without virtue.
Created by the designer behind Luxury Eco Pianos, the piece sits at the intersection of visual art and craftsmanship — where patience, precision, and reflection shape the final form.
Rather than a conventional portrait, the drawing is a meditation on what Aurelius stood for. The worn surface and charcoal abrasions echo the Stoic acceptance of time, hardship, and the erosion of ego. The figure is less a likeness than a presence — a symbol of endurance, discipline, and clarity of thought.
This work is entirely original and unreproducible. No prints will be made. Once acquired, it will never be recreated in any form.
As an early visual work from a cross-disciplinary craftsman whose piano designs are entering the luxury and collectible market, this piece represents a finite moment in a developing body of work.
The artwork is signed, dated, and accompanied by a certificate of provenance.
Early works matter.
Across art, design, and craftsmanship, the pieces that hold long-term significance are rarely those created at the height of recognition — they are the works made before public momentum fully arrives.
This drawing belongs to that early phase. It predates wider exposure, larger commissions, and institutional attention, and exists within a deliberately limited release of original works.
Collector Pricing Structure
Each charcoal portrait is a unique, one-of-one original artwork.
The collection follows a transparent progressive pricing structure. Following the sale of each original work, the published price of the remaining available original works will increase by 10%.
This pricing structure is intended to reflect the developing body of work, its increasing scarcity as pieces enter private collections, and the artist’s evolving sales history.
Each work is individually created, signed by the artist, and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

Following the next completed sale, the starting price for the next available original will be £19,800, with the same 10% progression applied following each subsequent sale.
Prices represent the artist’s published asking prices and should not be interpreted as a guarantee of future value, appreciation, or resale performance.
