For
Collectors with special interest in historic American BlackBerry®, RIM Canada, Porsche Auto and affiliated Porsche Design brand lovers.

Exclusivity Aspect
Exquisite VIP BlackBerry® PIN distinguished from all other BlackBerry® Phones out there, including standard P’9981’s.

The BlackBerry® PIN (Personal Identification Number) is an Research in Motion (RIM) issued number that is unique to every BlackBerry® and identifies it on RIM’s network. Out of many millions of BlackBerry® handsets made with BlackBerry® OS since 1999 to 2016, only these twenty-five units were given these exotics, easy to remember, uniquely allocated VIP PIN number to symbolise status, wealth, uniqueness over the rest.

Unique Aspects
A unique piece of art and a collector’s item that combines the timeless charm of the most beautiful prestige watches with the intelligence of a luxury phone.
Exclusively designed by Porsche Design in Germany and BlackBerry® / RIM in Canada.

Luxurious Aspects
This beautifully finished special edition of the smartphone features very special high-quality materials, an expertly crafted purist design and innovative technology.
The P’9981 from BlackBerry® in gold edition has a stainless-steel case with a gold-coloured titanium coating.
The case is also finished with a 24-carat gold layer.
The limited-edition number is on the camera cover on the backside of the smartphone and is milled from a solid block of 24-carat gold.
Complemented by a hand-wrapped, Italian leather back door cover made from genuine leather and it’s some of the finest in the world.

Heritage & Legacy Aspects
Sept. 28, 2016, BlackBerry®, the Canadian firm RIM announced that it would not manufacture its own phones and that it will now subcontract. BlackBerry® has signed over (mostly) global rights to use its branding on phones to Chinese manufacturer TCL. The news follows an announcement by the Canadian company in September 2016 that it would stop making its own phones with BlackBerry® OS and concentrate instead on services and software. Under the terms of the agreement, TCL will “design, manufacture, sell, and provide customer support for BlackBerry® branded Android OS mobile devices,” while BlackBerry® will chip in with the software and services.

Since then the Chinese company TCL manufactures BlackBerry® handsets with Android OS using the rights and logos of the BlackBerry® brand. Therefore, these phones with Original BlackBerry® OS and VIP PIN that by the course of these events has become the piece of BlackBerry® / RIM heritage and history which may never be repeated. These eight phones were manufactured in Canada well before the acquisition of BlackBerry® brand by TCL Chinese company.

RIM BlackBerrys were built with security in mind, which is reassuring enough for the likes of President Obama and UK Prime Minister : David Cameron, who previously said :
”Wherever I am in the world, I am always within a few feet of a BlackBerry® and an ability to manage things should they need to be managed”
