Golden South Sea pearls are produced by the gold-lipped Pinctada maxima oyster and are particularly prized for their substantial size, thick nacre and naturally warm spectrum of colour. The necklace is intended to display remarkable depth, with tones ranging from rich champagne gold to bronze and olive-gold, accompanied by subtle green overtones and a luminous, liquid-like lustre.

The standard sought for this necklace sits well above that of most commercially available Golden South Sea pearl strands. Opportunities to source a complete, closely matched strand with this combination of colour depth, lustre, size, shape and surface quality arise only occasionally; in our experience, several years may pass between suitable examples.
