Varages is a small Provençal village in the Var department, set on the edge of the Verdon Natural Regional Park at an elevation that keeps summers cooler than the coastal plain. The village has a distinct identity rooted in its centuries-long tradition of faïence pottery production, which gave it the title of the faïence capital of Provence. Aix-en-Provence is approximately 60 kilometres to the west, around 50 minutes by road, and provides TGV connections to Paris in roughly three hours. Marseille Provence Airport is the nearest international gateway, approximately 80 kilometres from Varages, with a drive time of around one hour depending on route and traffic.
