Nel ‘600 la masseria e la gravina passarono all’ordine monastico delle Clarisse, che vi lasciarono un’impronta indelebile ancora oggi visibile nell’antico convento. Nell’800 la proprietà divenne residenza estiva di Sir James Lacaita, illustre gentiluomo italo-inglese, patriota e senatore del Regno d’Italia, che la trasformò in un raffinato salotto culturale, ospitando i personaggi più influenti dell’epoca. Il figlio Charles, valente botanico, vi condusse importanti studi sulla flora delle gravine, contribuendo alla fama scientifica del luogo.

His son, Charles Lacaita, an accomplished botanist, carried out significant studies on the flora of the gravine, contributing to the site’s scientific renown.
The estate is centred around the main masseria, distinguished by its characteristic arcaded portico, and includes a historic chapel, an English-style garden and the former Convent of the Poor Clares, together forming an architectural ensemble of exceptional charm.
